What Mom REALLY Wants for Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is right around the corner (Sunday!), and if you are like most people I know. You forgot. However, you are in luck! Not only am I going to tell you what the mothers in your life REALLY want for Mother’s Day, most of these things take no advanced planning. They aren’t even your typical “gifts” for those of you who aren’t really into gift giving.
Of course, if you still have time and want to go all out, you can use your free 2 day shipping from Amazon Prime and add a bonus gift. All of these ideas are backed by my experience as a toddler mom, so you can bet your mom will love them too!
Oh, and if you are a mom, do yourself a favor and share this post so the men and kids in your life can take a hint! 🙂

1. A Full Night’s Sleep
Yup, you read that right! All any mom TRULY wants is to get 8 hours of uninterrupted, blissful sleep. The younger the kids are of that mom, the more she wants it! So do your part and help provide this for her. Purchase a set of ear plugs, fluff up her pillows, and take the baby monitor with you to the couch for the night. If you have wandering toddlers, you might need to install a baby gate to keep them from entering the bed in the middle of the night. Either way, all waking children are your responsibility from 10pm to 6am.
Don’t think you can handle this? Arrange for your kids to sleep at Grandma’s or for Mom to sleep at a hotel. Trust me. She’ll wake up refreshed, rejuvenated and thoroughly thankful!
If you still want to provide a physical token of appreciation, some of these products would help make a well rounded gift:
2) To Drink Her Coffee While it’s Hot
Moms are always go go go in the morning! So much to do, get the kids up, unpack the dishwasher, find clothes for EVERYBODY, and make herself presentable. In all this mess, she just wants to drink her coffee while it’s hot! Not a coffee drinker? She wants to be able to sit and eat her breakfast in peace, without getting up (or hearing anybody whine). Whether coffee or breakfast, either would be preferred on a terrace, watching the sun rise. (But that’s only for bonus points.)
How can you accomplish this? Take over for the morning. After that full 8 hours of sleep, Mom would love to roll out of bed, slip on a comfy robe and slippers to take her breakfast while you entertain the kids, get everyone ready for church, and finish up those dishes from last night. When she’s ready, she will join you in the hubbub and say “Good Morning.”
3) A Few Photos of Her and Her Kids
No, I’m not talking about professional photos. I am talking about candid, in the moment, real life, day to day photos. When those kids have those “so cute” or “what do you think you are doing?!” moments, who pulls out their camera? Mom. She’s the one snapping all the pictures and therefore she is always behind the camera. This Mother’s Day, pull your phone out (yes, it has a camera just like her’s does) and take those in the moment pictures of her and the kids that she spends so much time with. Trust me, she will thank you, and the kids will one day too!
4) A Clean House!
Some days, the pressures of motherhood to have a clean house, do all the laundry, wash all the dishes, and cook all the meals just gets to be too much. Take a load off the mom in your life and do ALL of this for her! Don’t know how she does it? Neither does she. Maybe you’ll decide she needs a maid service. 🙂 Anyways, a clean house will surely make her appreciate #5 just that much more.
5) Quality Family Time
Now, despite what the first few posts seem to imply, Mom really does love her role in the family and all the members of it! So the best gift of all is just spending quality time with her! Bonus points if it is something that she likes to do! Gardening, going on a walk, shopping, junking, athletic events, fishing… You know the mom in you life better than I do! Pick her hobby and say hey, “I think we should do X as a family.” Really want to impress her? know what that hobby is without asking 😀
