Caramel Apple Cake

A moist spiced cake filled with apples.

Ingredients
  

Cake

  • 1 ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 cups chopped and peeled raw apples
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Topping

  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp cream (or whole milk)
  • 1 Tbsp dark syrup

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 300˚F.
  • Beat salad oil, eggs, and sugar until well combined.
  • Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Add flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until all flour is moist.
  • Add the apples and vanilla. Stir.
  • Pour into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes. A darker pan may only take an hour.

Topping

  • In a small sauce pan, bring all topping ingredients to a rolling boil.
  • Pour onto warm cake and gently spread with a spatula.
  • Serve with ice cream! Enjoy!
